The UKISA is an independent organisation set up in 2002 to better serve recreational inline skating in the UK. Whether you are seeking professional training for commercial work or want a lesson with a qualified instructor you have found the right place to improve your skating skills. We aim to help get people skating regardless of age or ability level.

We launched in June 2002 with a bang! In a promotion coordinated with Eurostar we organised around 200 skaters on a trip to the world's most famous Friday night skate, the Pari Roller. From the start we promoted safer skating as the entire trip was free to all those turning up wearing a helmet on the London Friday Night Skate, the UK's largest year round group skate.

By the end of 2002 we had qualified over 16 instructors and become an officially registered body with Disclosure, the government backed organisation that offers access to Police, Department of Health (DH) and Department for Education and Skills (DfES) records. At a time when child protection has become a hot topic this was also the first time a recreational inline skating organisation in the UK had offered such a service to its instructors and the public

When it comes to instructors, group skates, retailers and media interest a London skater is in an enviable position. We are aiming to redress this imbalance. The objectives of NISW are as follows:

  • To promote CLASS, our responsible skating code (see menu)
  • To get people around the UK on skates via free introductory workshops
  • To offer more advanced sessions at discounted prices
  • To help skaters coordinate and instruct inline skating events and lessons

UKISA currently consists of marshals, instructors, skate schools and volunteers. Photos and descriptions of our team will appear shortly. Between us we have the most extensive track record in promoting and creating recreational inline skating events in the UK. But we can improve.

We are always looking for enthusiastic people throughout the UK willing to share their experiences and make suggestions for improving our activities. Depending on your level of experience and motivation we would also be keen to add new members to our team.

Make sure you give us loads of info on your background and current activities when you get in touch.
